Frequently Asked Questions
Are you looking for answers? We’ve responded to some of your most frequently asked questions below. If you need more details, we encourage you to read the Achieve Academy for Adults Handbook. Of course, you can also call us with questions.
How do I enroll my adult child at Achieve Academy for Adults?
Please see our Application Process page.
How do clients and their families pay for the services Achieve Academy for Adults provides?
We have met the specific criteria to become an approved program by the Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD). Our clients access our services through funding from their individual DDD budgets.
Does Achieve Academy offer breakfast and lunch?
At Achieve Academy, our participants take the lead in planning and creating their own lunch menus with support from our caring staff and family members.
Every week, we’ll take fun trips to the grocery store, where participants can practice real-world social skills, communication, and money management in a supportive environment.
Participants will prepare their own lunches, and we’ll occasionally enjoy special “family-style” meals together as a community. While we don’t typically serve breakfast (except during special celebrations that we’ll announce ahead of time), our lunch program offers a wonderful opportunity for growth and independence.
Families will need to provide funds for their participant’s grocery shopping—but the skills and confidence gained are priceless!
What if my child requires medication during Achieve Academy’s program hours?
All Achieve Academy staff members have completed the state-mandated medication training. We will dispense the participant’s necessary medication according to physicians’ orders.
Are nursing services available at Achieve Academy for Adults?
No, Achieve Academy for Adults does not have a nurse on staff. However, in addition to the state-mandated medication training, staff members pass a medication practicum and are all certified in CPR and standard first aid. We will utilize the 911 emergency system in any emergency situations.
Do you provide transportation services?
We provide transportation for all participants living within the eight-mile catchment area of Achieve Academy. Participants living outside this area must secure their own transportation.
What are Achieve Academy’s hours?
Achieve Academy’s program runs Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
What is the cell phone policy at Achieve Academy?
We encourage Achieve Academy program participants to bring their cell phones to the program to work on valuable lessons such as safe and appropriate web browsing, filming, listening to music, making calls, sending texts, etc.
